During the holidays, many people are preoccupied with planning all the little details of parties and get-togethers, and what gifts they are buying for whom, that it’s easy to forget that there are other people right in our own neighborhood who can’t afford basic necessities like food. At YellowBird Bus Company, which provides affordable field trip bus rentals in Philadelphia, PA, we care about the community we serve; that’s why we decided to give back by holding a can drive at our office in the month of November. Anyone who stopped by was welcome to drop off any nonperishable food items to be collected by Philabundance. This event was part of the annual WMMR Preston & Steve Camp Out for Hunger event.

For over ten years, the Camp Out for Hunger event has gathered donations from both individuals and large organizations across the Delaware Valley to help feed those in need, especially during the holiday season. This year, the event raised a record-breaking 683 tons of food, plus over $74,000 in cash. These generous donations will help feed the estimated 750,000 people facing hunger in our region.

Philabundance began as a small organization in 1984 that has grown into the largest hunger relief organization in our area. They work closely with over 350 local food pantries and shelters to deliver meals to approximately 90,000 people every week. The counties served include:
