It’s important that our bus drivers can effectively communicate with their passengers and understand all of the different types of personalities that come together on a school bus. Being a bus driver is much more than just being around kids.

Caring – The safety of the children on the bus will always be our No. 1 priority. Statistically, the number of school bus accidents per year compared to other vehicles is very small. While the structure of the bus contributes to safety, drivers also play a pivotal role. Not only do they have to drop off the children at their homes each day, but they also need to make sure everybody is behaving properly on the bus. Making the children on your bus comfortable is just as important as driving them. If you love and adore kids, being a bus driver could become a very rewarding gig.

Keeping Calm – There are going to be days when the children are going to be difficult, and it’s important that you keep your cool and have a clear head in these situations. Keeping calm when the driving conditions are tough, such as in snow and heavy rain, is important as well.  

Flexible Work Schedule – If you’re attempting to avoid the normal 9-to-5 work schedule, becoming a bus driver accomplishes that. They usually work very early in the morning and late in the afternoon with a lengthy break in between.

Driving Is Fun – Does sitting at a desk all day sound boring? Would you rather spend your day on the road? Being in control of a bus can be both fun and challenging.

No College – In order to become a bus driver, an applicant must take part in a training program and receive their CDL prior to employment. There is no four-year degree required.

Pay – Becoming a bus driver allows you to earn a living wage while performing a valuable service that hundreds of children and their families rely on every day.
